Wellness Consultations
Public Safety wellness consultations are a growing trend in the public safety community. This service is designed to provide education and connection to a wide array of public safety professionals from Police, Fire, Corrections, and EMS to dispatchers, admin staff, and other civilian roles. This service is not psychotherapy or any degree of clinical service, but rather serves as a check-in point for individuals in the midst of a demanding career.
What Does It Look Like?
Wellness Consultations can be tailored to meet the needs of your organization. Here are some general facts:

-
A Wellness Consultation is roughly 45-60 minutes in duration.
-
The consultation should take place in a confidential space.
-
No documentation aside from consent forms should be kept.
-
The service is meant as a benefit to the employee. This is not to be used as a form of treatment, used as a punishment, or for any reason aside from the outlined goals of a wellness consultation.
What Are The Goals?
Wellness Consultations can be beneficial for a number of reasons. Here are the general goals:

-
Demystify the role and purpose of mental health professionals.
-
Provide tailored psychoeducation relevant to the individual employee's needs, rather than "Broad Brush" approaches.
-
Promote awareness and adoption of self-care practices and healthy lifestyle habits.
-
Offer a confidential space to address personal concerns or questions.
-
Facilitate connections and referrals to appropriate resources.
-
Establish a foundation of trust and rapport for potential future needs.
